Newbie Question: Engine checks the morning of or night before?

Does it make much difference if I check my engine the night before or the morning of?

I find myself much more motivated to check it the night before that way I can get up and go, the next morning.

Re: Newbie Question: Engine checks the morning of or night before?

Hello BrettB.

I check at shut down AND in the morning when she starts again. Oil at night and cursory look-see. Also check bilge for anything out of the norm.

My engine is painted white. That makes spotting leaks easy.

And I always regularly check that she's putting out water. A couple days ago at shut down all was well. Yesterday there was no water. It's a simple alternator adjustment that could have been $$$$

While underway I hear the engine and can tell when something is different. Different is NEVER good. Always check when something has changed.

Good luck.
