For systems with a check for oil pressure before starting (gas or diesel) the concept is that the engine will CRANK before oil pressure but the ignition (in the case of a gas engine) or the injector high pressure pump (in the case of a diesel) will not engage until a specific (often low but not zero) oil pressure is achieved due to cranking.

Basically, for these systems if the sump is dry the engine will crank but will not actually start.

My 42 hull 142 has the same display ——- which i was told the same thing as you were
An option not provided.
