om636 Vertical oil filter

Hello,

Does anyone know where to find more info on the vertical oil filter on om636. There's info about the horizontal filter, but not much on the vertical one. Which model is it? How to change it? See attachment.

Thank you!

Hi KapteinMalik and welcome to the forum. Since the OM 636 was first released in 1948 and continued to be produced as an industrial engine until 1990 I’m pretty sure you won’t have a problem getting a new cartridge for it...... and be thankful you don’t have the spin on can version that requires removing the exhaust to service.

Re: om636 Vertical oil filter

Thanks a lot SkipperPete for the warm welcome and quick reply!

Do you perhaps know where I could find more information about what kind of cartridge I'd need to get and how to change it? I skimmed the net but couldn't find much online unfortunately...

Re: om636 Vertical oil filter

Not knowing what country you’re in makes that difficult but in Australia, Repco or Autobarn, in the US I believe NAPA is a source for filters and belts but in EU I have no suggestions other than a local garage. Online you could try Fleetguard, WIX , Ryco. Yours is one of the most common European industrial, automotive and tractor engines so it should be easy to find a supplier...... in desperation , contact a Mercedes dealership or a car club.
