Re: Pathfinder Diesel Shop Manual/Parts

If it’s a VW part, phone or email PartsPlace Inc. in Michigan, USA. They will be able to answer any questions you have. And order a copy of their catalogue.

yes, thanks. I have that manual but it doesn't detail part specs.

I called Parts Place, but they couldn't help with the 65MF, a newer model than what they deal with.

Re: Pathfinder Diesel Shop Manual/Parts

Often it’s better to avoid OEM and go directly to the best quality product. Do a search on “Gates timing belts and kits” but be sure to positively identify the core engine from VW that pathfinder used for your engine. Be really wary of getting an old stock item from a marine chandlery or engine parts supplier, timing belts have a shelf life.

The 65mf is a marinized 1.9 litre VW engine and parts place Inc have plenty of parts for the stock 1.9 engine, including a complete rebuild kit. If you ask them about a Pathfinder diesel they may not be able to help, but if you ask about parts for an approximate 2002 1.9 litre diesel, I bet they will be able to help. There is a serial number cast into the side of the block that will help them find the model if necessary and maybe some pics also.

Oops, “timing belt” and “serpentine belt” are totally different animals and it should be much easier to source a serpentine belt. Still go for a “Gates” belt, US company, highest quality belts. Just measure the length of your existing belt, count the number of grooves and go to a Napa or similar parts outlet.
