Perkins 4-107/108, diesel pressure regulation?

My Perkins 4-107 recently underwent a ground-up rebuild by the PO that included a professionally rebuilt injector pump and brand new lift pump.

Since the rebuild I've been tracking down and eliminating leaks in the diesel lines but one seemed irreparable. Turns out it isn't the line leaking, but rather the injector pump itself. So it has been removed and sent back to the guy that rebuilt/calibrated it. The leak seemed to have been coming from between the two bodies of the pump.

I'm confident that the issue will be corrected by the technician, but just in case, is there anything that might have caused this leak to occur on a newly rebuilt pump, aside from a possible error made during the initial rebuild?

What I'm getting at is the possibility that the injector pump is being over-pressured, causing the seal to fail. I'm new to this engine, is there any type of pressure regulation prior to the injector pump (for instance, adjustment on the lift pump itself) or is it all done at the injector pump?

Thanks for any help

Lift pump pressure could not cause the main pump to leak unless something was loose or not sealing.

Good to know, thanks. I wasn't sure exactly the distinction of roles between the two pumps (and whether the lift pump pressurized the system all the time, or was only used for priming).

Should you need it, I have a CAV injector pump available for sale. Asking $500.00 US plus shipping.

I have leaking injector on a 4107. Cause was a copper washer that was not central. Removed the injector, place a new copper wash in the middle of the hole and re-fixed injector. I alos replaced all the banjo washers too.

Thanks, let's hope USPS doesn't make me take you up on that!

I had quite a few of them doing that as well. Finally after fixing all of them, I was left with just the injector pump leaking.
