Re: Perkins 4.108 Fuel Pump Leak

I also have the same problem, Did you fix it and how? It looks like a pipe fitting. I loosened it with a 3/8 breaker bar, went far enough to get the engine to shutter, then tightened it up, but still leaking.

Perkins 4.108 Fuel Pump Leak

Here’s a bit of info that might be interesting. I’ve never seen anything other than hard steel washers on DPA high pressure banjo unions but Wotties mention of copper washers on QM yanmars prompted me to do a bit of research and I came up with 3 different types of washers from the parts list….. Steel, soft iron and hard copper….That was a surprise! The usual drill is to lap the washer on a sheet of glass with very fine lapping paste ( brasso or toothpaste will work) until its smooth then do a similar lapping on the banjos, mostly to see if there are any imperfections or cracks than to to repair the surface. (Some banjo’s have a shoulder that makes it impossible to flat lap em unless you make up a special tool) its important to closely inspect all contact surfaces for scratches, hairline cracks or hp tracks.
