Perkins 4-154 oil hose threads?

I'm hoping to replace this oil line that goes from the oil pump to the oil filter on my Perkins 4-154. I've attached a few photos. Anyone know what the threads are on these hoses?

The boat is currently in the water and cruising, so removing the line and taking it to a hydraulic shop would be difficult. Also, I think the threads might be UNF (?), which most U.S. shops won't have on hand. I'm hoping I can order it from an online custom hose maker.

It's a fairly large hydraulic line that, over 40 years of rubbing against the engine block, has worn a groove in one spot and begun to leak oil. I gave it a temporary fix involving tape and hose clamps.... Which seems to be working for now, but is not a long-term solution.

The fittings on the ends take a 1" wrench. The lower fitting is a 90-degree elbow, and the upper fitting is straight. The hose itself has a diameter of about 7/8". Its overall length is about 30"....

If the fittings are NPT, it should be easy to get a new one made. If not, I might need to go with NPT plus appropriate adapter fittings....

Re: Perkins 4-154 oil hose threads?

They look like re useable fittings, possibly “Aeroquip” so perhaps give em a bit of a wire brushing and see if you can read the numbers and id on the fittings. They don’t look terrible so I’d be inclined to just replace just the hose and use the existing fittings (if you can find a size stamp on the casing) they’re only in a low pressure circuit and are way stronger than needed, the most optimistic pressure in that pipe would be 100 psi.
And from your photo’s, there’s a bit of ziptie and spiral wrap work to do on the engine harness.

Re: Perkins 4-154 oil hose threads?

Just to bring some closure to this thread, for future reference....
I finally got back to my boat and got that oil hose off. I took it to:
Hydraulic Supply Company, 7202 NW 25th St, Miami, FL 33122. 305-888-2415
The wonderful old guy there took one look at it and said "Yeah, we can make that. The fittings are JIC 10."
I could have reused my fittings, but it turned out it was cheaper to have a hose made up with new crimped fittings (non-reusable), so that's what I got. Cost about $100. I was very happy to pay it!
Went to install it and prayed the JIC 10 fittings would actually fit — and they did. 🙂👍
Now, on to the dozen other projects in the boat....

Thanks for the update. Good outcome.
