Perkins 4.182 Fuel Leak on Injection Pump at throttle lever

Hi all,

I'm just asking if anyone has experienced this particular leak and, if so, if there was a way to solve it without disassembling the fuel pump. It's coming from the throttle lever, appears that if I tightened down that bolt it may help, but not sure where that bolt goes (and the lever has to move). Asking first!

I appreciate it. Supposed to be leaving shortly on the boat and don't want to tackle a long-time-turn around repair if I can avoid it.

Its a high pressure system with high pressure seals. I took mine to the professionals.

The injector pump has a plate with the model number. You should be able to find a manual and seal kit online. Or a local injector shop should have a seal and info.

Over tightening the bolt head will damage the pump and won't help the leak. To change the seal, the lever and bolt need to be removed. You can use a pick to pull out the seal. Inspect the shaft where the seal rubs for pitting. If it is pitted, the pitting will eat the new seal.

Thanks! According to the manual there is a vent screw behind this throttle assembly that I'm hoping may be the culprit. I'll find out today. If not, I may attempt what you mention here. I appreciate it!
