Re: Perkins 4.236M heat exchanger

NeilPride, where do you get the o-rings and gasket material?
I have an M90 (4.235M) with the same heat exchanger and it is leaking at the end cap seals. I need to rebuild it and cannot find the o-rings anywhere but the UK. I am in the USVI and they want a mint to ship them. Do you know a good source to find them online or do you know the specs so I can find them?

Thanks,

Capt Ed

Wow,,, i cant remember when i rebuild the heat exchanger in my old 4236 but i remember making the gaskets from a couple of good quality gasket material sheets and i found the o,rings in a Hydraulic workshop kind of place where they make hig presure pipes , pipes, etc,,, they have a good selection of O rings in almost any size.... not dificult to found it, and i use a lot of Tef gel inside of the aluminium case to avoid future isues as well coat the threads in the cap screws...Good luck..

Re: Perkins 4.236M Heat Exchanger

SeaMonsterEd - If you are still looking for gaskets, seals and "O" rings for your heat exchanger, they are available from Complete Yacht Services in Ft-Lauderdale (954-462-6977) Ask for Mark. He knows these engines very well.
I just rebuilt my heat exchanger and oil cooler. Not something you want to do every year thats for sure!
