Perkins 404c-22 heat exchanger

Hello! And happy holidays! I have a 2004 Perkins 404c-22 diesel inboard, I am looking for a heat exchanger/exhaust manifold. I can only find listings for the 4.108 or 4.107 engines. Will a 4.108 heat exchanger fit on a 404c series engine? How much clearance above the engine will I need to fit the heat exchanger? The system I have now is a remote heat exchanger in the bilge with ss pipes and hoses. Thank you for any guidance!!!! John

Hi Johnmwalsh. No, a perkins 4-108 heat exchanger won’t fit on your Perkins 404C-22. I believe you have the industrial version of the widely used Perkins-Shibaura KR engine that was marinized by Volvo as the D2-55 and Northern Lights as the NL M844, (84mm bore-100mm stroke). The overhead clearance will be about the same with these two most likely candidates for the heat exchanger/exhaust manifold conversion and if I was doing the job I’d be happier with the NL heat exchanger. Contact “Parts4engines” re the Volvo manifold and more accurate info on the 400 series Perkins.
