Re: Perkins 404D-22 Making a horrible popping sound.

Here is the mold for the front bed and the design for the rear mount bracket.
we will be fiberglassing this weekend.
This is the first time fibreglassing for me so its all a huge learning curve.

Re: Perkins 404D-22 Making a horrible popping sound.

Looks good.

What is the final developed thickness of the 10 layers?

How are you planning on attaching the forward motor mounts to the base? And the base to the hull?

Jim. I havn't accurately measured it yet but it has a bit extra on the mount pads. We estimate min 8 to 10mm all around and I think we got about 15 to 20mm on the mount pads. We used the heaviest materials we could buy.
In addition we will use a base plate underneath the mount Pads and drill through once we get the new engine in position.
We will sand the hull and glass it in. The whole thing feels rock solid.

Here she is almost ready to move into place.
We needed to remove the heat exchanger in order to fit it down the companion way.
Does anyone know the correct type of lock tight to put on the heat exchanger bolts??

Re: Perkins 404D-22 Making a horrible popping sound.

Looks good, seems like ya'll are enjoying yourselves...

Steel bolts going through an aluminum manifold? I'd use never-seize appropriate for aluminum and the proper torque...I've never had a problem with those bolts loosening themselves...
