Perkins 6-354 Repower

Has anyone lifted a Perkins 6-354 out of a boat with there there boom? I am looking at a a gulfstar that needs a re-power and it looks like a very heavy motor i might have to hire a crane to do the job. any info would be great.

Re: Perkins 6-354 Repower

Personally, I would not. Too heavy even if using another halyard to the boom where you are attaching the "come-a-long" or handy billy. I have lifted up to a Perkins 4.236 this way, but a 6.354 is too heavy. One of the boat yards here in Bayou Chico, FL will lift an engine & place it in your truck or trailer for only $100.
