Alas Cygnus is not a perfect boat at all but Im not perfect either so we have a mutual understanding.

That hose goes to my hot water heater and to a blower motor style heater. It is connected to that shutoff valve and 90s to a threaded pipe inserted into the block right by the thermostat location.

Sorry for the thread drift, but that is interesting. Where do you feed the water back in?

It returns back in to a heat exchanger outlet on the rear of the engine. Or flows from there? Not sure.
This setup was original and i havent changed or questioned it. I have to drain the coolant by removing the red hose at top of engine and dropping it low into a container below the engine into the bilge.

Is yours different?

Yes, mine is (or was..have now sold the boat)..I didn't have hot water at all!
