Most people are changing over to Yamar because they use less fuel and are smaller in size for the HP needed.

Just something to look into.

Best of luck.

Too bad because the Perkins runs great, looks like a real engine, and lasts forever.

Mine too. I've looked at the Yanmar and even though it has a great reputation. It looks kind of delicate. Not as industrial looking as the Perkins.

Those delicate Yanmars power a lot of water taxis.

I used to do the maintenance on a fleet of them in Maryland.

Out of the eight or so they had only one had a catastrophic failure.

The major problem was the operators and they way they shifted gears ahead astern.

I don't doubt it. As I said they have a great reputation and if the need arises I would probably go with Yanmar. Its just that old diesel engines do seem to be overbuilt when compared to newer engines.

try this www.parts4engines.com I recently carried out a full engine overhauled on my perkins 4.236 engine, the parts cost me a total of £635 pounds and the greek engineer who did the rebuild charged me a total of 2000 euros in labour costs these parts are genuine perkins parts and if in the USA go to Maxiforce who supply and manufacture perkins parts
