Please Identify this Engine . . .

the engine, not ME. I KNOW who I am, yep.

The reason for this question is:

I'm looking to buy this boat.

It's been surveyed and the surveyor says it's a twin cylinder Yanmar.

I don't believe it. I believe it's a YSB12 Yanmar which is a single cylinder engine.

Is the 'surveyor' unable to count or am I loco? (wait, don't answer that based on the engine question, K?)

What say you knowledgeable folk?

Tanks in Advance of course,

Jim

How may injectors does it have?

How many exhaust ports are on the manifold?

How many high pressure supply lines lead from the fuel injector pump?

Most importantly, does it go, putt---putt---putt or does it go, putt-putt-putt?

I can not tell from the one photograph but I am inclined to agree with bljones on this. It is definately a Yanmar and I also believe it is the YSM 12. Need a look over top of the cam to be sure though..

Now there's the issue you see folks. I've not touched the boat yet so I'm doing this from a photograph.

Jannow?

If it IS a twin would it be a horizontally opposed or both barrels on the one side?

Thanks,

Jim

single cylinder Yanmar "Y" series. Could be 8 or 12 hp.YSE, YSB, YSM.

Let me guess, your looking at an 80's Hunter 30

Never gets the semi award. Actually it's a 77 H30. I just flashed on a great name for it too: "Cherub" and of course you know why.

BUT, that would be just a tad alternative and I'm not that way. Besides, Herself Who Must Be Obeyed would object stringently.
