Re: Power Tec Outboards

They are a Chinese knockoff of Yamaha.
Yamaha is an amazing motor.
As soon as a Chinese company says strict ISO manufacturing and CE approved its their first two lies.
Same goes for UL ULC ETL CSA SAE. The fraud is growing and comes with reliable old brand names too. Blame the stock markets.
Right down to base metals it’s not a Yamaha.
I worked on a very old Yamaha 2 stroke for a friend. I hate 2 strokes but boy was it ever built well.
Anything with a tiller over a 25hp is dangerous. My first clue was a 90hp with a tiller. I’m a jerk when it comes to Chinese made. Apple products my only Chinese stuff allowed in the house. Lots of folks excited about Chinese battery packs with good service I made sure I bought domestic at a premium. I buy some commercial plastic from China because one company makes the best ASA I can find. As soon as Europe Canada or US catch up I’ll dump them. So there are companies in China with integrity but I’ve not met many.
Names like Wagner Brakes Stanley, lufkin, Nicholson files all junk now. No one absolutely no one buys champion spark plugs anymore. Some 50,000 companies producing copies of their old products or copies of others from a country where there is no legal standing for intellectual property asset or patent.
My bias inexperienced view is they are crap and bad for ya.
