Pre 200 series Perkins Fresh Water Pump

I have a 1980 Irwin with a Pre 200 4-154 Perkins and am trying to source a freshwater pump or the rebuild parts. I know they are discontinued but surely there are aftermarket parts out there somewhere. Has anyone had any luck finding the seals and bearing? What about converting the pump to the newer 200 series pumps? Any suggestions? We are leaving the country next year and want a spare on board.
I have searched the web and no one has really mentioned being in a bind with one of these old pumps going out, but as we all know, it is only a matter of time.

Re: Pre 200 series Perkins Fresh Water Pump

I have a bunch of parts left over from when I was going to rebuild my ~1978 4-154, then ended up repowering instead. I think the fresh water pump rotating parts went with the long block I sold to another GS50 owner whos engine chewed itself up. I have the fresh pump housing, water pump">raw water pump, timing gear cover, manicooler housing and heat exchanger front pulley and front PTO w/pulley that mounts to it, fresh and saltwater pipes, engine mounts etc if you're interested in other spares.

Try "parts4engines.com" in the UK, or Transatlantic Diesel in Virginia

Mazda used this series of engines in its light truck range, not difficult to obtain the base engine components but the marine stuff is much harder to source, especially that raw water pump and pulley.

A place that rebuilds: Water Pump Man
or Depco Depco Pump Company

To rebuild, the front flange is pressed off. That allows you to push the shaft, in the direction of the impeller, thru the seals and bearings. Once the shaft is out, it's easy to remove the bearings and seal.
Bearings should be available at any good bearing supply or online.

If you have a spare one it will never break but if you don't .....

Re: Pre 200 series Perkins Fresh Water Pump

To correct one post in this thread, the pre-200 series 4-154 (with CAV injector pump) is not the one based on Mazda B2200 pickup truck engine ( which IS the 200 series. With Kiki injector pump)... the original 4-154 is a proprietary Perkins block, cast in UK (Scotland?). Only similarity is cubic inch displacement... virtually no commonality of parts
