I have a 1993 Yama 115 with carbs that has never had any problems. If I am not going to use it I will start it twice a month and let it run for 15 minutes with the hose attached. Has worked for me.

Re: Ethanol in fuel
I use a lot of small 2 cycle engines in my trail maintenance work.
The manufacturers are recommending only using high octane gas, apparently to minimize the bad effect of the ethanol content. Has there been any similar advice from outboard manufacturers?

I don't use any mixed fuel that is over 30 days old. Usually not a problem as we clear a lot of trails.

(Hey, I know it's not sailin' but it's volunteer work, gotta do something between deliveries!)
