Never use a 2mcn primary. This can cause a restriction in fuel flow decreased performance.
Thank you Pat! This is exactly the information I was looking for. I just bought an Ingrid 38 with a Westerbeke 50 hp in it. The PO had installed a very nice dual racor system with a vacuum gauge in it. We changed all the filters a couple of times when the vacuum went up to 20 - 25. We never had an engine failure. I questioned the p/o on the way (he accompanied us on the delivery) about the filters since he had told me that he used 2 micron filters as the primaries and 6 micron as the secondary (the filter on the engine). He believed that this was correct but qualified it saying that he could have easily been wrong.
I believe that the 2 micron primaries were the problem with the apparent plugging problem.
Thanks again for this clarification.
