Raw water cooling conversion

Can a 1989 volvo 2003 28hp engine be converted to fresh water with a kit and does it have to be the same brand and what sort of cost is it likely to be. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Raw water cooling conversion

Bassed on the components on my old Greymarine 4-112 retrofit, (heat exchanger, thermostate and housing with bypass valve, circulation pump, hoses and brakets) your looking at 1,000-1,500 clams. Less if you're handy and can fabricate brackets and such. If you can find a centrifugal pump for circulation you won't need the bypass valve which will simplify things nicely.
