Does the pump shaft go directly into the pump drive gear? Im not sure what Im looking at cause the pump is facing backwards and Im looking at it with a mirror.

Is is possible the gear is OK and its just the shaft thats toast?

Thanks for your help BTW.
IIRC, that pump might have a drive pin that goes in the gear slot. I think I see it in this pic. If so, look at the shaft for the broken part still stuck in it. You’ll need a punch to drive it out.
As much as I can see in the gear pic, “if” my memory is right on the pin. I’d just run it with a new pin.

Re: Raw water pump or something else?

New gear is $650. Yikes.

A new gear and a new pump would be 10% the price of a new engine and transmission minus labor.

That drive tang was doomed from the start, compare the contact area of the new drive gear slot to the original bored out slot. Yes, the tang on the pump shaft can be rebuilt.

I think your engine is a Mitsubishi. I'd look around for a tractor part.

Re: Raw water pump or something else?

It's a Mitsubishi L3E. Very easy to get parts. I believe it's called the power-take-off gear.
