Repaiiring a thermostat

I have an old Perkins 6354 that i converted to fresh water mani-cooler. In the process discovered I had no thermostat and the temp sender was the incorrect one. Ordered a Thermostat (not very common any more) and put it in. Started over-heating so i took it out and tried it in hot water. it was opening at the correct temp but not a lot. So decided to look into things and discovered that the thermostat core was the exact same dimensions as an ingersol rand screw compressor . Thermostat core cost 5usd and you can choose from several temperatures. Fitted and now opens all the way and all is rosy Saved another expensive and slow shipping delivery from the UK . Strange what you find when you start looking!

Thanks for posting that. Interesting, where did you buy the cores from?

You can buy the part on Amazon but it's $50. But made in China, so cheap somewhere.

I'd also like to know your source.
