replacement alternator for Perkins Sabre M92B

I'm looking for a spare alternator for our Perkins Sabre M92B. Somehow nobody in Halifax (Canada) seems to be able to find a cross-reference they can source.

The current alternator is a 12 V, 90 Amp Prestolite (model AS128)

The nearest Perkins dealer gave me 2 options:
a Perkins Sabre alternator for CA $825.78 or an ISKRA Alternator for CA $623.80. Quite a bit more pricey than I expected.

I'm hoping to hear from anyone who had to replace the alternator on this engine. Did you find a cheap(er) model? What model?

what is the mount like?
2inch foot
or the wider mount J128?? I think(about 3inches)

One option is to buy a new Delco 100 amp single wire marine alternator for $100. It's a bolt on to the mount and does away with the regulator too, just in case..

or a more common Delco. You can stock 2 or more rebuilts for less than one "new".

Trans Atlantic diesel sells both balmar $$ and Delco. Parts4engines sells some as well can’t remember the brand.

Yep-but they are in the USA. 25% Trump duty/tariff,outrageous shipping & a 75cent dollar. / Len

Ya but almost all the stuff you buy here is already subjected to those anyways. I’ve found a lot of items bought in the states even with duty and exchange are cheaper in the states, especially electronics.

You can put almost any alternator on most engines. Ebay is one of the cheapest places. Most alternators there are under $100. With only diesel engine space, any car alternator will do. No gas fumes, no need for a sealed alternator.
My mains and 2 generators have car type alternators. All bought on ebay along with spare ones.

The distance between the inner edges of the mounts is 3 1/4"
