repowering 35ft in Europe

huy guys,

I got a 35ft sailboat in barcelona, with 30 years old volvo penta with saildrive transmission. I'd like to swap it for a new one, 25-30hp.

I got here in barcelona a quotation for yanmar 3YM30AE with KM2P-1 transmission, for 9000 euro (without VAT), which is way above my budget.

And so, could you suggest some alternative brands for marine engines. Preferably here in Europe, but the price/value ratio will decide.

Thanks! Tomas

Re: repowering 35ft in Europe

Beta are a well regarded brand with much cheaper parts than Yanmar.
Their engines are Kubota based. Not sure they will be a whole lot cheaper but google Beta marine & see.
Unless you can install the engine yourself it will be quite a bit additional for the install.
Hope that helps
