Repowering Options for an Oyster '39

Hi Everyone,

It would appear my time has come the old' volva penta md21b 76hp motor I have has started to really give me troubles it has 9367 hours on it so I guess I can't complain although only about 20 of those are mine.
Being relatively new to the whole sailing business, I am wondering what the forum recommends for re-powering options. I am a live aboard so I am very attracted to the whole idea of not having carcinogenic diesel fumes about, so the electric option seems really attractive to me or at the very least a diesel electric hybrid option. My research has led me to limitations however, I don't seem to have found any electric drives that are capable of moving my displacement. She's 39' and 23,000lbs...(Ok, so I know I'm not going to win any races, but she's comfortable).
Has anyone got any recommendations on where to start the research even? Links, websites etc? I am in Vancouver Canada if that helps narrow the search..

Thanks in advance,
