Saildrive Seals - Repairs

The typical saildrive, as I understand it, keeps the water out of the boat with two layers of seals. My Yanmar saildrive (two actually - I have a cat) also has a sensor that senses if there is water between the seals.

As the sensor is screaming bloody murder, does anyone have any experience with the seals? Are there kits? Is it something an owner can attempt or do I have to get an expert to work on it?
