We were sitting next to a boat one day having a beer and the same thing happened. We had to cut the lock off the door to get to the engine cut off. We disconnected the battery so it wouldn't do it again, turned out to be a leak dripped on something and away she went..........m

That's why I rewired my automatic bilge pump direct to the battery( fused of course ) so that I can cut power to all other systems such as the starter.
