Service manual Suzuki Dt4 year 2000? Recommended spares?

Hi,

just bought a hardly ever used Suzuki Dt4 2stroke outboard. Model year 2000.
Looks like new under the hood. Only freshwater use so far.
Starts with one pull and runs flawlesm

Still, as with all equipment on board, I'd love to have a pdf copy of the service manual.
Anyone around who would be willing to share a pdf copy?

Anyone can recommend which parts are most likely to fail over time and might become hard to get?

Thanks so much.

Franziska

You want a plug, a carburetor, maybe a set of carb gaskets and a fuel pump rebuild kit, assuming if has a fuel pump. A water pump impeller, spare prop. I assume no shear pin? Gear oil and pump, extra anode. Bottle of Sta-bil or similar. Grease gun and waterproof grease.
Your in Europe? Does your fuel contain alcohol?
I’m not familiar with this engine, can it use an external tank? If so then it likely has a pump.

Likely you can do without the carb, idea of a spare is to do a quick R&R and clean the one you took off when you have time.

You’ll like the little Zuk far more than a Chinese knockoff

Great info.

Thanks so much, will get those parts and follow your advice.
Spare carb a little later though.
We spent a lot recently [emoji3]

It has been little used, but still is 17 yrs old. The water pump impeller may ought to be inspected and the fuel pump diaphragm may be dried up, but I think I would let it go out instead of replacing it right away, depends on what it cost I guess.
If a fuel pump goes out, you can usually get home by pumping the squeeze bulb, may leak a little gas though.
I’d change the foot oil, easy and cheap to do, probably 1gt of oil would last for years of yearly changes.
Remove the prop, grease the splines and put it back on, do that every year when you change the foot oil.

People that have a spare carburetor, seem to never need one.
Carry spares, that way your stuff lasts forever.

Hi,

I own a Suzuki 1995 DT4LS. This is/has been a great motor. I installed an in-line see-through filter. This allows you to see if the gas/fuel looks good as it is being used. I put the recommended stabil fuel stabilizer in every tank. Last year replaced the water pump (1/2 hour job $20 US) & added an external tank for longer run time. I shut the fuel line off and let motor run until it quits when I'm done. Was thinking about upgrading to a 4 stroke, but can't see any real advantages. They weigh another 15-20 lbs and have a ton of safety stuff to break in the moisture laden environment. I have the original manual. If you need anything from it, let me know.

The advantage is much better fuel economy with a 4 stroke, and you don't have to mix the oil and gas. I change the oil in mine sometimes once a year sometimes longer. Impellers the same. I've had this engine since 2011

I use a Mercury 5 hp 4 stroke 25" extra long shaft as the main auxiliary for my sailboat. I can motor about 20 miles on a gallon and a half or so of gas wind and tide depending......

It uses either internal or external fuel tanks depending on switch setting

This online shop manual says it's for all Suzuki Outboards from 1988 - 2003.

You might want to check it out. I found it doing a search online just like I found the shop manual for my outboard

Hey everybody.
Thanks so much. Great info.

@thomm225. Great, even created an account there, can save it to a list, but download remains grey.
Do you have an idea how I can download that?
Like to have an offline version.

Here's a link yo a 1979- repair manual. https://www.inboardrepairmanual.com/?p=250 There's a cost to it though. I just downloaded the manual for my Mercury motors. US$14.95 for a 520 manual.

Re: Service manual Suzuki Dt4 year 2000? Recommended spares?

Also own a 4 hp 2 stroke outboard. Mine is a Johnson. That doesn't help u. I inherited mine with a 28 foot Sharpie I bought. It was the primary power source. Hard to believe I know.

One of the problems I ran into is sourcing parts. For example, u can't buy a new carb. you can buy a carb rebuild kit. I also have had some fun trying to replace all of the rubber tubing under the cowling.

When u service the impeller ( the water pump) also buy the other parts that make up that unit. 2 strokes are so perfect for Dingys. My 9.9 hp 4 stroke is easily 115 lbs.

Franziska, I suspect that your outboard is not a 2000. I spent about 30 minutes trying to hunt it down. I own a 30 foot Condor trimaran and a 28 foot Sharpie. No manuals for a 2000 Suzuki DT 4. I was able to find u a link though. See if this works. It is a PDF file download.

Manualslist.com/instruction/Suzuki-dt4-owner
I believe it is 14-15 American dollars.

Btw my outboard has a metal identification tag near the top of the leg that gives serial number and year manufacturered. Does your little guy really say 2000. I can find nothing with the year 2000. Only through 1998. Persevere... they are awesome little motors.
