Short life of heat exchanger zink

We get only 6 months from the heat exchanger zink on our Perkins 107. I added a ground wire from the exchanger to the boats zink but there was no improvement. We had a exchanger failure 6 months ago that I suspect was related.

Probably was related since most manufacturers recommend you change that zinc monthly not every six months.

Most probably do not replace their zincs monthly but more likely start the season with a fresh one. Perhaps you should check yours monthly for a while and see how fast a fresh one is wasting away. Once it is two thirds gone, may be time for a new one. Six months would be a long time for a zinc I thinc.
