I like single lever controls. Kobelt make a very nice unit. Probably the best as far as I can find. I'm not much for the ones with a button. You want as few moving parts as possible.

I have two seperate levers on either side of the pedestal (one speed and one gear) and want to use them to operate a Yanmar 3GM30F. The Yanmar Installation Manual states: "Only use the single lever remote control head for the Yanmar mechanical clutch marine gear. The two lever remote control head cannot be used because too large a torque is needed to operate the marine gear shift lever at engine high speeds (over 1800rpm). This exceeds its capacity, and makes the mechanical clutch inoperable."
Does the referenced "two lever remote control head" refer to my condition of two seperate levers, or is it a particular kind of control. Should I be able to use my present setup to operate the Yanmar?

Re: Single Lever Engine Controls

Does anyone have a picture or diagram showing the mechanics of how to put together a vintage Morse single lever side mounted engine control unit?
I recently took apart the Morse E45145 single lever throttle and transmission control unit on a vintage Tartan sailboat and am now having difficulty putting all the pieces back together again. This unit is from the way-back 70's... any information on maintenance and repair would be greatly appreciated.
