Smell Gas But Cant Find The Source

I read the thread title and when the page opened I happened to read post #4 first.

I was wondering how the OP could 'see' gas leaking from the hoses -

then I remembered American usage

(in other parts of the world, a "gas" leak would be invisible, unless the gas was strongly coloured - like say bromine)
