Some People Just Can't Be Helped

Went to look at an engine to troubleshoot a no start situation.

Upon attempting to start the start ground against and did not engage the flywheel.

The flywheel was rusted...cleaned the teeth...still didn't engage.

I advised customer that I had a starter back at the shop that I could bring down.

Didn't hear from customer...called him...he said another guy had the starter tested and it was ok.....sheesh...I could see the teeth were messed up and the flywheel had some burrs on it.

I didn't even try to explain to him that bench testing a starter is done with more than 12 volts. That any burrs on the starter pinion can cause problems.

This is the birth of another horror story.

(Ranting light has been extinguished)

WHAT-EVER

I feel your pain. We see obvious cock-ups or soon to be one, often but try as we might to explain it to the owner we just get 'Oh but my mate's neighbours cousins great Uncle said it's OK'.

Some people just can't be helped or even want to listen, silly really but life I suppose.

I love the word cock-ups. It is amusing, to say the least, to be separated by a common language...hahahaha

Do you really want to help a person that keeps his boat in such sad shape. Let'm go! Help the one's who really try to be accountable.

I do have to stop and think over the odd post here 'He said WHAT??? can you say that out loud?' Here's one none locals love 'Whataphuka'. It is a place name and the 'ph' is pronounced 'f'. Nice spot actually and just down the road from Uretiti Beach. The 'Ure' is pronounced 'your a'

Del, that's the programme we are running more often. If they don't want help why waste our time even trying. Some people do have to learn by their mistakes.... or should I say cock-ups

Uretiti beach is very popular amongst the nudist fraternity in the North, Just imagine white sands for 15k's and maybe 100 people on it at any one time, holiday period excepted. Great kontiki fishing and or surf casting, tua tua and pipi beds (clams) etc etc.
GMac I thought that town was whataphukup and the inhabitants were Whataphukas!
