Source for Kanzaki Transmission Parts

Anybody have a source for parts for Kanzaki transmissions? My Yanmar has a Kanzaki KM transmission and I need to find a new dipstick. The plastic head broke off of the existing one. Thanks.

Any Yanmar dealer, I stock that item, post your engine model (the engine model is how we look up parts on our current part cd's) and I will give you the part no# to go to your nearest Yanmar dealer.

look it up as a 2Gm20F-YEU that should be the wing nut version. If nut the metal one is better

you can also put KM2P in the EPC and it will bring it up

This is a very common problem. Both ours were broken off when we took delivery of our boat. Easy to pick up at any Yanmar parts house though.

For everyone else reading this who hasn't had their plastic transmission dipsticks break off yet, go replace them right now while this is fresh in your mind. Extracting a broken off dipstick from the threaded hole is not fun, and the plastic is pretty much guaranteed to be broken down and brittle after a few years exposure to oil fumes.

Thanks everyone for your feedback. My engine model is 4JH3E. A part number would be helpful because my local Yanmar dealer says there was more than one transmission used on this model, and were not able to help me.

I also second the idea about replacing this dipstick early. The plastic can crumble and fall into the oil well.

If you have a 4JH3E, then you don't have a KM2.
There were several transmissions used behind that engine. You'll need to crawl in there and get a model number off of the tag.

Could be the KM35P, KM35A, KMh4A, KM4A or ZF gears. MOdel on the tag is a must

Don't tighten them so much. They do have an o-ring and can seal with only miminal pressure.

Re: Source for Kanzaki Transmission Parts

The plastic caps on the Yanmar dipsticks seem to fail due to the interaction of the the oil and the cap combined with too much in and out. You can be as gentle as you want - the plastic cap usually breaks when you are trying to remove it not when you are tightening it.

The cruiser's forum moderator prevents me from posting anything (and this message might not appear either) that could be considered commercially oriented so unless you search the commercial forum for 'yanmar dipstick' you won't likely find the long term solution that you are looking for.
