Spectre 5 Gal Tanks Splitting

Hi All...

Anyone else have problems with their nearly new (two years) Scepter fuel tanks splitting at the seams? Specifically under the handle. Also the corners show stress areas.

We just recently made covers for them but sun damage doesn't seem to be the problem directly but instead the swelling of the jug.

Have you tried contacting them for replacement? Even out of warranty, they might.

And if they came with a one-year warranty and you bought them with a credit card, that might extend it to two years as well. In which case, call your credit card company to put in a claim.

Likely, the tanks were "overfilled", and the fuel inside expanded as it heated.
