Temporary Use - Portable Gas - Atomic 4

The gas tank on my new-to-me C&C 30 needs cleaning. Lots of trash coming out of it. I'm not one to take short cuts, but it may be a bit before that can be taken care of. Thinking about taking aboard a new 5 gal outboard tank and fitting the fuel line with a valve to switch to the portable tank. What might I expect if doing that, other than the obvious limitation of the range due to the amount of fuel?
