Tohatsu engines?

I just bought a 1999 Tohatsu 40 hp engine on another boat of mine. What is the quality and reliability of these engines, or the Tohatsu engines in general? Thanks.

They're great!!

Tohatsu made most of the small engines for other manufacturers too.

They are great ,Not sure who manufacture but Mercury and I think Nissan and Tohatsu are all connected in some way at least they all carry the exact same engine with some small differences in a fair few models.Had a 20 hp for 20 years never even flushed it and it still putted along just fine, parts are reasonable and fairly easy to come across
