I run an Autoprop and get 6.5 kts at 2000 RPM in smooth water, no wind.
Motorsailing between 1000 and 1500 RPM the noise level from the motor is very nice, at about 2000 RPM it gets "buzzy", sure would be nice to cruise at that lower RPM when there is no wind.
Of course sailing is preferable, no motor then.
I have sort of a love / hate relationship with the little Yanmar, I love that it's so reliable, sips fuel, but I hate having to listen to the thing.
