Universal 5424 rear main seal

Hi[ I am trying to find a rear main crank seal for my 1980 Universal 5424 diesel.
The engine has DH1100 on the bell housing but most info I have found say they are Kubota D1101. The seal is, NOK AH3734E dimensions HTC 80 100 13. I don't seem to be able to find that seal. The auto parts store can get me one the same size but I would like to stick with original. The Kubota people cant seem to help me unless I have a Kubota serial # off the engine which isnt there.
Appreciate any help.

Re: Universal 5424 rear main seal

Kennys,

Your 5424 is likely D1101 or DH1101

Attached are some cross-reference documents that might help.

Universal_Diesel_Engine_Data.pdf: Helps identify D1101 for 5424
Universal Engine Info « Downeaster Yachts.pdf: Another reference to D1101 for 5424

KubotaModel-enginecrossReference.PDF : Look on this document for D1101 or DH1101 to find out in which model tractor it was used. Then take that model tractor to Kubota and tell them you need the rear main seal for an L245 Kubota tractor (or whatever you find is the tractor for your block)

To help verify the engine, look on near the fuel injection pump, you might see the engine model stamped into the metal
Attached is a picture of my M5444 (V1902 block)

Once you have your block number/tractor model, look up the parts on Kubota's website.
https://apps.kubotausa.com/illustrated-parts/

Search for L245 or whatever the tractor model you find in the cross-reference documents.

FYI: Universal 5424 and M-30 are synonymous.

Re: Universal 5424 rear main seal

Hi Scherzoja
Thank you, that's a lot of great info. Everything says its a D1101 I can't figure out why it has DH 1100 on the bell housing. It looks like the L225 tractor has the D1101 so I will gamble and order a seal for it.

Dont sweat it , the auto parts one will be fine if they can supply the same size in a name brand oil seal should you not be able to get a tractor one.
I never buy Yanmar seals or any marine engine manufacturers ones, just take the size to a bearing supply place.
