Volvo Penta 2030MD Instrument Panel Problem

Hello
Without any warning the temperature indicating instrument of my vp2030 instrument panel came off and fell down into the interior of the boat.
The external plastic front ring that holds in place the instrument was broken.
Without any collision nor bump.
Is it possible to replace this apparent weak system by usual automotive instrument panel mounting parts?

Did this happen to anybody?

The attachement points for these rings (bezel) are not very strong and it is not unusual for them to crack with age and minor impacts. You can acquire replacements from Volvo.

You might find one that fits, or can be adapted, in an automotive shop, but most automotive shops work off make/model/year of vehicle and aren't always so good at creative parts substitution.

The easiest replacement will be from a VP dealer. As the VP gauges were made by VDO, you might find a replacement bezel from them, but it probably won't match the panel exactly.

I just remade my VP panels in painted aluminum. It allowed me to also make the holes a standard size and replace the nonfunctional tach with a standard one (1/4 cost of Volvo replacement).
