Volvo Penta D2-55 service life

I am wondering if anyone knows what the average service life is for a Volvo Penta D2-55. We are considering a 2014 FP Helia 44 with D2-55. It has been in charter. Engine hours are 7000.

There is no real way to tell. It's not an average, it's this engine you are considering owning and maintaining. That's an old enough engine that hours is not a very reliable guide.I recommend that instead of saying yea/nay on average hours you have a mechanic examine it, including in particular compression, plus full power and no smoke.
