Re: VP 2002 Heat Exchanger

So, HE arrived and no extra fees woo hoo. Has any one installed one of these units on a VP 2000? What type of hose used to plumb? How did you modify support to attach the exchanger?

Hey, has anyone here installed a Mr. Cool heat exchanger on a VP 2000 series. I am in the process now but would love to hear from anyone with advice, tip, tricks or pics. Thanks.

Maybe this diagram will help http://coxeng.co.uk/wp-content/uploa...hot-water1.pdf

Your biggest obstacle is connecting the volvo "push fit" pipes to new HX hose nipples.
There was a post on here a while back from a member who got tired of the leaking VP system & replaced all the copper pipes with hose & short copper nipples.
I will try to find the post. /Len

Re: VP 2002 Heat Exchanger

So I was able to get the VP 2002B running, I have it set up in my garage. I took the wiring harness and gauges out of the boat and did my best to hook them all up but things are not working great yet.

My biggest problem I am having with the engine is it is running hot on higher rooms. I just checked the installation of the cooling system in my manual and it seems I should have blocked the hole at the rear of the engine just below the exhaust elbow. I ran a hose to this as this is the way it was when in the boat...I think it ran to my HW tank. I don't have the hw tank installed in my set up.
My question I guess is does it make more sense that the coolant will circulate better with this hole plugged and the hose that ran to it plugged?

Re: VP 2002 Heat Exchanger

I don't believe that outlet at rear & the short pipe from it to the elbow are used on FW cooled 2002. They are blocked off.
You need the FW cooled thermostat too. Pls read thru this description:
