VW Marine TDI 150-5 data to NMEA 2000

Looking for some advice on integrating the sensor information from my VW Marine TDI 150-5 (same as mercury marine TDI 150-5) NMEA 2000 network.
Saw part of an archived thread that is inaccessible to me on marine diesel https://boatdiesel.com/Forums/Misc-M...-NMEA-2000.cfm
about using Actisense EMU-1 or J1939 to NMEA 2000® network gateway but wondered if anyone has some actual experience with this?

Also wondering where connection in is physically made (behind control panel or on engine) and connector type.

Thanks for any help.

Phil
