pirate Westerbeke 10-2?

Looking at a couple of boats manana; one has a Yanmar, the other, the 10-2.

I speak some Yanmar so I've been looking that way but the 10-2 is FRESH water cooled. Me likee. I read here and there that the West is a Mitsubishi tractor block which sounds good. There is a thread here, suggesting parts are a real prob. Dunno the hours yet but if on the low side, engine might outlast me.

Any reason to reject the 10-2 out of hand?

Thx

No, don't reject it out of hand. Parts may be expensive but if the engine has been maintained properly and it starts quickly from ice cold and runs smoothly, you should be fine.
