Westerbeke 20B TWO Glow Plug

I might want to replace my glow plugs. Does anybody know the land-based engine that this Westerbeke was based on? How about a cheaper substitute for the $75 glow plugs?

Thanks,

Don

The first thing you need to do is to get the serial number that is cast on the block, around the air intake/governor.
I have a 30b3 which shares the same operator manual and I found the Mitsubishi model from those numbers.

Often glow plugs are pretty standard, Autolite and NGK make all kinds of plugs. You can find universal plugs too. About $10 US. You need to know your thread size.

Re: Westerbeke 20B TWO Glow Plug

From my quickie searching it's a Mitsubishi L2E block and the factory service manual is available. I had a quick look through it but it's not searchable thru Acrobat so I didn't go thru it.

I have a Westerbeke 44B and crossed over my glow plug to a Champion that I got for $8 on Amazon so it's worth it to look and for availability.

Re: Westerbeke 20B TWO Glow Plug

Remove a glow-plug, clean the red paint from it and read the number on it. Now cross reference that number to an NGK etc. and grab them from NAPA.....
