Westerbeke 30 Manifold

I have a w 30 with a bad hx & need to know how one gets to the 6 bolts to remove the manifold.Any help would be gretly appreciated.marc

Thanks Gord,I lloked at tthe manuels & saved one.What is needed is how one removes it.There are 6 bolts but are they removed from thebottom,top or are they inside.Thanks again marc

Westerbeke and Universal, individualy or combined have produced several 30hp auxiliary engines. Can you provide the complete engine model designator

The engine is the 4 91 built by british leyland.I think all the wet.manifolds are the same?

The engine is the 4 91 built by british leyland.I think all the wet.manifolds are the same?

4-91 is 15hp IIRC, and much different than a W30, 30B, 30BXX and others.
I will need to look at the hard copy of the manual Monday to see how the manifold is removed.

Thank you,the same just looked at manuel on boat.They are 27 0r 30 hp according to allied paper work.marc

Westerbeke 30 manifold

1. Remove the bolts at each end of the manifold.
2. Back off the remaining 4 inside nuts until they're almost off, using an open end wrench.
3. Lift the manifold straight up.
The inside bolt holes are slotted so the removal is really straight forward.
The engine is based on the BMC/Leyland 1.5D "B" series diesel.

Thanks that is whai I needed to know.Do you know the aprox. wgt?Not much room to work.Either me or the mech. will try tomorrow.The hx setup by wet. was definatly NOT ONE OF THEIR BETTER IDEAS.marc
