Westerbeke 30B Three

New to me sailboat this weekend, the above engine with 700 hours on it. Looking for a little more input on another brand name for this engine so I can possibly get parts when needed at a tractor supply store. Any help is appreciated. Someone was kind enough to suggest a Mitsubishi L-series possibly...

Re: Westerbeke 30B Three

I think it's a Mitsubishi L series engine. There may be markings on the block that will give the identity. I'm not sure how hard it is to get parts for them. Sometimes you have to find other equipment they were used in and look at their parts books.

Re: Westerbeke 30B Three

I bought parts for the Mitsubishi on my Westerbeke generator, it’s a K3D model. There are several variations of this same basic model over the years. Some checking and you can find your model. I ordered parts from a tractor dealer in Mississippi, they were very good to work with. I found a pdf parts list on line, the parts to marinize it have to come from Westerbeke. If you need more information let me know.

Re: Westerbeke 30B Three

It's not the K3D model. The K3D has a different displacement, bore and stroke than the 30B Three. The displacement, bore, and stroke of the 30B Three match the Mitsubishi L series engine exactly. Check on the Mitsubishi website to see if there are markings on the block to make sure.

Re: Westerbeke 30B Three

At any rate, the Mitsubishi engines are really good.
