Westerbeke 50 1980 Tartan 37

I am trying to find parts for a Westerbeke 50 Engine in my 1980 Tartan 37 Sailboat. I have an oil leak coming from the timing cover gasket and am having trouble finding parts. I looked at Westerbeke's parts lists and they have it listed as No Longer available.

Any thoughts on where I could potentially find a replacement gasket?

Hey there, I think I bought the last one Westerbeke had on the shelf long ago. If I still have it, I will make a photo copy of it and I can possibly email you the image to trace out. It is just thin gray fiber gasket material.

I have a favor to ask though. I have a Westerbeke 50 in my Morgan O/I 33. I know if it large for the boat but, that is what the previous owner repowered with. I am severely Under propped. What size prop and pitch do you have in your's and, are you happy with that props performance. would you pitch up or size up if you had the chance.

just keep in mind repitching is way cheaper, you may want to just start there and see if YOU like the results.

The quotes for repitching are high. There are plenty of used props out there. Right now my engine does not even see the prop and I don't move in a headwind. :-)

Ok, Attached is a scan of the gasket itself. The part number does not match my parts book from 1978 but, when I was ordering a bunch of stuff from the UK, they literally told me some of the parts I had were either the last one or next to last one on the shelf. I told them to send them to me just in case. even the heat exchanger. I have the last one of that one.

shoot, the actual scan of the gasket is too large to add in the thread. If you email me at Jeremy@worldcollision.com I can email it to you directly.

A Westerbeke 50 in my Tartan 37 recently run out of oil and died. As a result, I have parts available: water pump">raw water pump, alternator, injectors, belts and fuel filters, a heat exchanger, and anything else that can be taken off an engine. Mesasge me if you want to purchase any of the parts.
