Where Can I Find a Metric Temperature Sender in the US

Well, I wasn't paying attention this weekend, and I did this.

Broken temperature sender by ffacker, on Flickr

I broke the temperature sender off in the head of my Kubota. I went to the Kubota dealership this morning, and all they have is the temperature switch (already have one of those that connects to the warning light/buzzer), not the sender. I left a message with the Phasor dealer in Florida, which is where the original sender came from. They haven't called me back yet.

There's lots of senders online, but they're all NTS, and I need metric sizing and threads.

Anyone know where I can get a metric sender or a standard to metric adapter that will work on a Kubota Z482?

Any of the Japanese auto dealers should have something. Toyota, Honda, etc. Real oil pressure gauges are used on some of there vehicles. Those are a pipe thread I believe and are very close to 1/8 in. NPT. I have on an occasion or two used a standard NPT fitting, but it won't go in as many threads. You could also get the appropriate tap and tap the near fit fitting.

Assuming it would be a standard automotive part, try to locate an European car dealer in your area and talk to their service department. Maybe VW or Mercedes? Or check with AutohausAZ, they carry a lot of European spec parts. Example: http://www.autohausaz.com/search/pro...ender%20Switch

The auto parts stores were not helpful. Unless they have a part number or a vehicle make and model, they're just guessing at a match, and they don't really have much of anything in stock.

I tried to use a car adapter for my oil pressure sensor, and although it was metric, it had a coarser thread than the Kubota.

This is frustrating.

VDO makes them. Lauderdale Speedometer stocks them.

Is there a Thomas skid steer loader supplier in your area? They use Kabuta egines as do Panda generators.

What you want is not metric. The thread size is 1/8" BSP(this stands for British Standard Pipe) This is sometimes called 1/8" JSP.

The Kubota dealership gave me a printout with the specs of the temperature switch. Indeed the thread is marked as R1/8.

Very strange that this would be standard instead of metric, but it does make life easier. I guess I panicked for nothing.
