Yamaha 25 hp pull start late 90s

Hello Everyone,
I have a Yamaha 25 hp pull start late 90s engine. Last week I was out on the boat using it and it died, due to a fuel issue. I managed to find that the a part of the fuel system had become loose and it was sucking air rather than gas. I made it home. Then a recurring problem happen again where the engine wont go above an idle speed. This, I have fixed in the past, and this time by tightening the screw on the bottom of the tiller arms hand grip. So at this point I think I am good to go. However, today I got to start the engine and the pull start is harder to pull than normal and a gas starts coming out of the bottom of the engine. The engine wouldn't start and i stopped trying because each pull released more gas. Any ideas?
