Yamaha 3.5 hp

I have a air cooled yamaha 3.5 hp outboard. She starts very easily but only runs for 10-20 minutes before cutting out.

At higher rêvs she cuts out after 7 minutes. She will start after a few minutes.

Any suggestions

Re: Yamaha 3.5 hp

Also check for clogged vent in fuel tank.
Probably built-in tank with vent in the filler cap.

My last dink motor was a Yamaha 4 HP, four stroke. Best motor I ever had,
Pushed a 310 @10.9 knots with a 225 guy onboard, (me )

Re: Yamaha 3.5 hp

I think I have solved the problem a closer look revealed what appears to be flakes of rust in the fuel line. It started first pull

So did the flakes of rust clog up your fuel filter, or clog up the carburetor?
